Big shout out to0 Marty for the loan of hsi lovely SPB143J1. I thnk for many people this will indeed represent the sweet spot in terms of dollars spend to Seiko received. The 6R35 is a good one, overall build quality is very nice, lume, sapphire etc, all top notch. If only they had actually matched the bracelet to the case??!! Cheers, Jody

Poor Marty probably wouldn't have seen the dust speck, no he'll never unsee it

I've had this watch for 5 months and love it. I've owned the Skx, Turtle, Samurai line and this one is just right. For me it is worth the extra $$. As a long time Seiko dive watch fan this is definitely a keeper.

I just got mine and I absolutely love it. It’s stunning!! All lines up and it’s very comfortable on the wrist. It is the perfect Seiko!

My favorite Seiko so far. Worth every penny to me. Have mine on a Tropic style strap.

I have one. It's become my daily and favorite. Paid $850 usd. Agree about the bracelet, I use straps. I see the unsigned crown as a plus. Minimalist, simple, no frills. I think it matches the look/feel of the case/bezel etc...

This Seiko is Seiko's answer to the Rolex Submariner it will be classic as they got everything right on this piece. The size is spot on, the dial and handset are spot on, a classic in the making. Just my humble opinion of course.

The SPB147J1 on a rubber strap looks amazing! The sharper angles and boxy lugs gives it a high end tool-y feel that IMHO, a signed crown would diminish. The unsigned crown seems like a deliberate design choice to give this series of watches an understated quality and seriousness.

The time-lapse at the end was 'chef's kiss'

This is the first Seiko I've seen in a long time that makes me want to give Seiko a try.

Pin and collar bracelets are underrated imo. I've had a screw bracelet come unscrewed despite vigorous tightening. Pin and collar seems more secure to me.

A nice watch and agree about the bracelet. I do currently feel SEIKO are too expensive with so many alternatives.

I re-watched this tonight, my wife got me a SPB147J1 for fathers day and I adore it. I've had all the low end Seiko divers starting from the 7002. I love my 7002, my SKX, my Orange Monster, and my new turtles, I sold the Samurai soon after getting it. My SPB147 is my favorite Seiko ever. I bought a Strapcode Jubilee for it and it's perfect. It ticks all the boxes for me.

Picked one a few days ago. Price is a bit steep, and it's certainly not perfect, but there's nothing like it really... a true 62MAS descendant - and in the metal, it looks bloody awesome!

I actually don't mind the end links. The center male link is flush with the case so it look intentional to me, rather than corner being cut.

My real issue is the movement.6R15/35 is good but has wide tolerances. I can spend the same amount of a Swatch Group diver from Mido/Tissot/Hamilton/etc. and it would come with a Powermatic 80, which has much tighter tolerances when it comes to accuracy,

I know Seiko movements are "workhorses", but I don't want to spend $1000 and basically hope that the watch is generally accurate. Of all my watches, my most accurate watch is a Powermatic 80, then a Miyota 82XX, then Seiko 7S26, THEN Seiko 6R15. All watches are working within tolerances.

If the 6R movements had tighter accuracy tolerances, I'd buy this at full retail, sight unseen online, and in an instant. I fell like I need to go to AD, try it on my wrist, and see if I love it enough to gamble $1000 to buy a watch that wouldn't need to take to a watchmaker to regulate.

I'm so glad I ordered mine (won't say where) before the reviews start and prices go up.

I’ve never been a big fan of Seiko (I know I know) but this? This is really nice. Achievable grail for sure. Great video Jody! 👌🏼
