Who is Ron Spomer
For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion – the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

I have a Marlin X7S in .308. Its basically a Savage clone(floating bolt head, barrel nut, accutrigger), that makes Savage so accurate. When Remington went bankrupt and sold Marlin to Ruger, they kept the Marlin action and named it the Rem. 783. Its cheaper to build than the 700 but just as accurate.👍🤩 We love you Ron.

Handled an Alpha in 6.5 CM recently. Not an ELR setup, nor a mountain lightweight, but a sensible general purpose setup, with the feel of a custom build. Action was tight, yet very smooth. I think all it really shares with a 700 is the stock inlet, and that's not even quite the same as the magazine is longer front to back. Different enough I think they should've dropped the "700" part of the name to avoid confusion.

When I purchased a bolt rifle I purchased a “budget” Weatherby in .308 specifically because it was built in Japan using their steel. Not sorry.

So when will it be released? I want to see one before I jump on the bandwagon. I love my 700s but I am actually considering another brand depending upon on caliber choice.

The biggest 700 Remington problem is the stupid non locking bolt. I'm tired of my bolt opening on hip. It ejects a $4.00 round when it opens. I love Remington but go back to the old locking bolt.

I was interested in buying a 700 for my young son, until I saw the price. That's asking a lot from a fire arms company who's trying to crawl its way out of the mud

I bought 2 in the past. The tolerances were so terrible I sold both and decided to never buy one again.
