I was born in Kenya where my parents hired a nanny. My mother told me I would scream and cry and refuse to eat or drink when she had to leave. Miss Margaret loved me like her own child and I still have early fuzzy memories of her arms around me. I should try to reach out to her too.

That how you know you’ve had a positive impact on someone when they still fondly remember you 38 years later.

$16, 000 is a lot of money, the yearly salary in the Ivory Coast is around 6, 400 a year. So he not only gave her basically 3 years worth salary, but also a monthly salary where she can live by comfortably

A nanny isn't just a caretaker or a nanny. Many nannys are like a mother goddess of the heart and soul. There are so many stories of adults who reminisce about their nannies and how without them, they would not have experienced things like language, tolerance, song, food, scents, their sense of worth or words of wisdom or encouragement from other cultures and how these little nuggets are so incredibly valuable to them. And many miss them, a woman without a name or a woman without a full name. Just a memory.

People like her are completely selfless when they have nothing themselves. She deserves nothing but the most happy and comfortable life for the rest of her days. God bless mothers like her.

Proof that if you do kind things you will be rewarded for it

Edit: It’s ok to tell people that you disagree with them and tell the reasons why but some of the people replying are just being rude
