I am certain the most basic is walking. Walking. Walking. Leave your digital tech at home, except for maybe an MP3 player loaded with a couple audiobooks and music. Put on a backpack with some basic stuff for the day, and walk around. Sit and write. Read. If you pray, do that too. Then walk some more. And walk.

When I was in my early twenties (41 now), I was always extremely happy walking around with my film camera, literally looking at the world in front of me, assessing colours and light levels, perspectives, etc. Capturing moments. Carefully. Deliberately.

I live overseas now, but whenever I do go home, I grab my old cassette Walkman and a couple audiobooks (usually abridged), and for at least a couple days I walk around town. Go to restaurants or coffee houses to sit and write. Breath in the air that is so "different" from where I am resident.

It always refreshes me. For a while.

I guess that if you are doing something that requires you to be *actively* engaged physically and/or mentally, and you find yourself missing/yearning for it if you don't get to do it enough, it must be healthy for you. It's a totally different feeling from compulsion, or some other feeling where you experience an unpleasant awareness that you would be far better off to resist and not indulge.

Honestly having a dog has helped me a lot. Going for 2-3, 20-30 minute walks every day really help clear my head 🐶

I’m running for the same reason. When I was young, running felt much different. Now it feels like a reset. I come home after a long run and my mind is quiet. I can feel air in my lungs. I feel alive and ready to work the next day.

Somebody needs to show this to our scheduling manager

Yep he nailed it. I work hard on Monday and Tuesday, take Wednesday off to do something fun, then Thursday-friday I'll get way more done than you could be expected to get done in 2 days. I never work weekends, ever. Those are for friends and family

This absolutely saved me today. I forgot all about the reset rule. I've been beating myself up all day... But rest is what I needed. 😍

I pick a fairly not busy day of the week for me that's wednesday. and I deny myself a few dopamine causing things. on that day I do not eat sweet foods. I do not look at screens. I do not listen to music. the only beverage I drink is water. after those days I swear music sounds better food is more delicious and tea is a delight.

4 day week, perfect and the evidence is starting to show this is not only healthier but also as productive if not more so 👏

The way I see it, if you wake up and you are super comfortable, it's time to go and do something that makes you uncomfortable for a while

To have the luxury to set my own work schedule !

Be diligent but don’t burn yourself out basically, also realise that rest is an important part of productivity

I do that and it feels so rewarding and amazing on your day off! Specially if you had worked hard and made good money on your working days.

As a homeschool parent we basically follow this pattern. Light schoolwork/learning in the most fun ways outside etc every three days. 🍎 We had dopamine problems for sure before.

Yup. This works (mostly). I can ONLY work this way or a variation of it, for decades.
