Phillips drive was designed/intended to limit the torque (it’s supposed to pop out), so you’re probably ‘screwed’.

I did not realize that about that style of handle... I thought you needed the hex on the shaft. But yeah, that will strip the screw out.

Sometimes you have a flathead screw that's still in good shape but stuck in super tight. This would be a good way to get it out, as long as you don't break whatever it's screwed into in the process.

If its a philips head, the additional torque wont matter because the screwdriver will either slip or strip.

With something like robertson, this work of course
