On the E-clutch thing, from what it sounds like it's the clutch equivalent of throttle-by-wire. Yes, there's still a clutch cable but it's not mechanically connected to the clutch any, ore. The reason there's still a cable is so they can incorporate it into existing designs without needing to use any special adapters for your existing clutch. The clutch cable simply connects to an electronic input instead of a mechanical one.

Manufacturers have been adding complexity for decades but now some of these machines are off the charts. Keep it simpler.

I'm with you Kase. That TMW is on my radar.

I need a new bike…my Trident 660 just got out of the shop with a manufacturers recall. Next, it has cold starting problems. Soon I’ll need to replace something that has to do with a sensor on the exhaust…bike is at 2, 100 miles.

Last time I am doing something that stupid like getting a Triumph.

Gas rear wheel and electric front wheels. Doesn't that make the TMW a Hybrid?

Bro's. the e clutch makes perfect sense. let me 'splain... "you can pump the brakes just fine. you dont NEED an automatic brake actuator. yet? ABS exists" e clutch will add nannys to the bike to make it easier to ride for new people or drunk people. adding features like Anit-Stall, and probably getting rid of the need to hold the clutch when starting the motorcycle.

Thank you, Kase and Alex, good discussion. You need to bring in Joe from 2Vintage channel

The clutch lever is still there for clutch-up wheelies. :)

The TMW could be interesting if you can use it full electric/full gas and a combination of both.

First automatic clutch? I remember Yamaha had a system just like that on the FJR ... On the AE version, but also didn't have a clutch lever

Wouldn't be Japanese without a cat in the picture.

I would just swap the clutch lever with a rear brake lever, ala scooter :D If I don't have to use a clutch, I won't, what is the point of having one. Personally, I would not mind riding a motorcycle like a scooter :D we already have quick shifters and rekluse , just a different take

I think the facial recognition thing is weird, when it's way easier to get someone's location from their phone.
Also, idk if I really want to share biometric data with Yamaha. 🙄

Honda has been doing a useless clutch lever on their 250ex four wheeler forever with the semi automatic foot shift.
