Today's E-cubed: to do my darndest
How'd Timmy do yesterday?
He struck out the one time he was at bat.
Aw. That's too bad.
I know. He did his darndest, though!

This is a video for ESL (English as a Second Language) learners. This video explains a common expression in American English. It also explains typical American pronunciation.

I've heard the expression 'to do your damnedest' from a British YouTube teacher, but this one adds to one's knowledge too. It sort of completes a whole picture for learners. Thanks! :)

Very encouraging lesson, and you are a great example. I do admire your work. We should try to do our darndest to achieve something or to be successful.. but we don't.. not always. Thank you.

Maybe it's just me, but I think knowing when and for what we should do our darndest is much more important than just doing our darndest for whatsoever.

darndest means always best, right?. I was searching online the word and got those examples:  Kids say the darndest things (mean=  Kids say the best thing??), so I can say: I try to visit the darndest places???... Thanks Coach.

Is it an old expression ? I cant find it in my dictionary or Google translation.
I just know try my best or do your best. Anyway it Increases my vocabulary as well,
I'm sure no one of my friends knows this expression so it'll be fun to use it.
Thanks a lot

Shane, you seem just love to indulge yourself in a kind of "Confucius deadpanned" hokum once in a while. You ran 10 kilometers of bunkum in eleven minutes and lifted 500 kilograms of baloney, then delivered it to all the members of DDM. I think if you stopped taking your jokes to the dryers, they would be less roll-eyed, at least.
