Here, I'll do it again from the side. You can see the notches in the metal in the middle are thinner than those at the top. So we're going to get this handle down to that part and that unhooks it. And you can pull that out, and that releases the spring. Now with that sideways, I can push down, pop that out real easily, and pull the center part out.

Now with the parts separated, you can get a better idea of what we have. You've got the center hooks here. That'll go in there with the spring around it and we'll add the handle last. So make sure you put the spring in the hooks like that.I'll push it through here, and I'll reattach our handle. See how it's pulled nice and tight there.

Then you can bring your cover back up. Fits through, then pull on it because the spring. Just get a little more out of it, turn it that way. And you're good. It's not going anywhere as you go down the road.Overall, I think it's a great replacement part.

I've seen some of the other ones that come out of their RVs and campers on their water heaters, and they just don't hold up as well. You can tell that they've been out in the elements. They look a little dingy over time. This one's not going to do that. It's going to hold up just fine. It's a pretty simple replacement part. It was easy for me to install. That does it for our look at our water heater door latch. Hope this helps..

Thank you so much. No instructions with the part. What a big help you were to replace this little part that was giving me a problem.
