SCIENCE IS FUN! At least we have a lot of fun with it in our house. Homeschool can be a roller coaster of finding things that work and things she doesn’t do so well with. However science experiments seem to always be a major hit!

With that, we bring you the “Egg In The Bottle” experiment. Below is a list of what you will need and how to do it with your kiddos!

Things you will need:
- Hard boiled egg (peeled)
- Glass bottle (preferably a glass milk jug)
- Lighter or matches
- Paper to light on fire

How to do the experiment:
1. Peel your hard boiled egg and place to the side
2. Take your piece of paper and light it on fire
3. Drop the flaming paper into the bottle
4. Put the egg on top
5. Watch as the pressure forces the egg inside the bottle

Her face!! I love the innocence of a child learning. If done correctly, they have so much fun with school, no matter where that schooling takes place. "Good job, " from a fellow homeschooling family!!

Cash is going to be a legend! She has such a wonderful attitude. She appreciates life, you can tell through the videos. And you two as parents taking her to do everything possible is so amazing I could not commend you to enough❤

(the fire crates NEGATIVE pressure, aka a vacuum) so the pressure that's higher pushes it into the bottle.

Higher outside pressure *pushes* the egg into the bottle where the pressure is lower after burning the oxygen enclosed.
Similarly as outside pressure will *crush* a sealed barrel that has been heated then rapidly cooled.
There is no vacuum, only a difference in the pressure equalizing.
This is for the know it all commentors. Only mistake was using the word suck instead of push. Dad is still right in that he instills curiosity and learning for Cashy in an enjoyable manner and environment.
Keep doing what you do my man!❤

Can't wait until I get to do experiments like this with my kid. It's wonderful to see children amazed with learning.

Burning of paper consumes the oxygen inside the jar hence creating a vacuum, so the outside of jar atmospheric pressure is higher than inside of jar. So basic rule is higher to lower region to achieve equilibrium the air outside try to enter the jar but the egg blocking the way gets pushed with it.

Man, the explanation is completely incorrect. But the video is cool :)
Fire burns oxygen, creating carbon oxide, which has smaller volume, than the oxygen had. That is creating a reduced pressure in the bottle.
