Love the day in the life. I'm 55 and starting training 1/10/23 and love seeing what goes into being an instructor and in the training process.

I've never heard of only logging XC time wheels up to wheels down. I and everyone I've ever flown with (CFIs, my DPE, safety pilots) log cross country time as engine start to engine shutdown. You're still able to log the taxiing time and runup time since you end up going flying, and you're acting as a required crewmember. Maybe the Boston FSDO is pretty chill about these things, I don't know...

Really enjoy that style of vlog. It was neat to see you working with different people in different areas. And some look at the ground school was great too. Thanks.

I learned flying on a piper archer when I was around 27 years old and flew in Switzerland around 250 hours. I emigrated to Canada when I was 36 but had no time to fly here. Now I am 65 and I really would like to fly again. But my health is not the best so I really enjoy your stile Pfizer teaching to the students. Keep it up you are great

Hey Lewis, love the "day in the life" videos. Love the injection of humor into your work!
I am working on my commercial and intend to go immediately into CFI and probably CFII and MEI. I am torn about going after the ATP or ATP-R because I am 58 years old and am not optimistic about a job flying for the majors, regionals, corporate or even charter. My question to you is, do you think it is worth my going after all of these tickets and ratings at my age with the pilot shortage looming on the horizon? I am currently a 500 hour private pilot with ASEL/AMEL and instrument rating. I have no health issues that would keep me from passing a class 1 and currently hold a class 2 medical.

Always enjoyable videos. With your experience in dealing with different folks, what is the best material to use and they way to study for the FAA written exam? And on average, How long should it take to prepare for the exam?

I fly down in Miami and I've never had an issue with logging the whole thing! I'd call and ask. .3 or .4 doesn't seem like much, but it definitely adds up!

SEA area, I log total time as cross country time, my DPE and every instructor I've talked to doesn't have an issue with it, but I haven't talked to the FSDO. Didn't know it wasn't done that way everywhere...

I'm under the Orlando FSDO and haven't heard of this rule. I log all time from engine start to shutdown. But if that's what your DPE is asking for then I'd inquire, I'm sure there's a reasonable answer

The Miami FSDO used to make us deduct 0.2 for every landing on our XC but they later sent us a letter saying we no longer needed to do that and could log the entire flight thereafter

Every CFI I've had has always logged the total time on a xc
