As a former IRS agent I explain why you do not talk to the IRS.

Many times IRS is testing you, they actually have the information on you.

IRS agents use LEXIS-NEXIS, credit reports, wage and income information and a plethora of other information already in their computer system.

Depending on the case the complexity or what you have to hide that's when you consider hiring a professional.

IRS sends notices for Failure To File/ Past Due for bisiness. I sent a check so I don't understand notice.
I get another letter with a penalty DOUBLING amount! I go online but Online IRS account says:
* I owe ZERO.
* Does not show April payment.
Letter sent to IRS: Ogden, Utah inquiring why there's a discrepancy with the letter and online goes unanswered.
Tried calling 2 X, (about 2 hours each), only to have the call dropped after ridiculous hold time. The second call was answered and they told me I was calling the wrong number, (should be calling the business number), but I called the number on the back of the business form they THEY sent me. No options Now rec. "Intent To Seize"...
I can't pay it online because it doesn't show I owe.
I figure I have no choice but to pay the damn thing and figure it out later... 🤷‍♂️
Why TF do they make it so difficult? 😡
