Hey! In this Short video, I'm gonna share with you this amazing exercise that Disney used to give their animators and illustrators to understand movements. It is a very useful exercise that helped me a lot. Hope you like it and that it is useful for you also.

That's actually a really good idea for an exercise if inspiration isn't firing

The importance of flour sack excercise is to correctly convery the emotion and the message WITHOUT a face or any facial expressions. It’s a physics and posing study that also focus on silhouette.

Ooh, the texture on this brush is immaculate 🤌. Is it a procreate default brush or not?

It reminds me of magic carpet in Aladdin, I was amazed how the animators were able to convey so much emotion in a carpet

Even I have tried them but traditional and it's soo cool. If I ran out of poses i would simply pick up a pillow and bend it into new poses. So it was really helpful to learn the line flow and movement!!! Try it

I think a face defeats the challenge of conveying personality and emotion through something that is incapable of simple facial expressions. It’s a way of showing body language

My dad taught me this trick when I was younger! It helped me a LOT in learning anatomy, as it became a lot easier to create an understanding of a basic torso in my head. I was really young, so understanding the body itself wasn't only hard for me but hard for me to gain access to places to learn. Using this trick was great practice for me and I still sometimes revert to it when drawing skin folds if I can't seem to understand them otherwise. It is SO interesting how these things work in art!

I had to do that as a freshman in college, it’s super fun! Mine did a cartwheel around the page that went into a backflip before falling flat

The first one kinda looks like sans being proud of puns but as a pillow 😶.

I absolutely did this exercise as a student in first year animation. I’m telling you getting any appeal into that thing was tough as a newbie animator!

It seems this is how Oogie Boogie was made 😆

Something that was taught at our university for animation class! It definitely needs to be a beginner's first excercise

That's a great practice! Plus+ the one saying "I give up" looks somewhat cute, I want to give it a hug or something.
