I had a cell phone in 1989. It was a brief case phone. Best working phone to date. It was 6 times powerful than modern phones. I had it for 7 years.

I remember when my dad had one in his truck. He came home and I called the landline in the house on it. My mom freaked out asking where we were.😂😂

I remember a guy in my office had one in his car in the mid 80’s. He took a group of us for a ride in DC to show it off. We were so impressed.

Well I'm 70 years old and still run a small business. But in 1985 I was the head of engineering for a telecommunications company in Burbank California and at that point I was driving a 1985 Corvette with a cell phone in it boy do I miss Ronald Reagan

I remember reading about them in a tech magazine while sitting in a waiting room to see an ophthalmologist in the late eighties. Little did I know

6K in 85 was like 17K today. I remember when these came out, I was a teen and we didn’t have much use for a phone back then.

I had one of those big box phones, I had a telegram company and had to be able to set appointments on the go. It cost around $350. a month. What crushed my business was when they sent women into the military. So, Birthday Parties were Grandma's job. They didn't hire big bunny rabbits to come to the grandkids' birthday party!

My mom was a realtor and she had one of those back in the late 80s. My ex-in-laws had a car phone. I thought it was so fancy. 😆

1985 from the top of a mountain - "Dude, you're never going to believe where i'm calling you from!"

2024 in the shower - "Dude, they now have waterproof bluetooth earbuds!"

I bought my first portable cell in the early 80’s. It was a large pack with the phone and battery. You’d put the antenna on your windshield with a suction cup. I paid about $2500 at the time. The cost to use it every minute was horrible. I had two nine hundred dollar bills in two months and that was it for me! The phone carrier shut down my phone as I couldn’t afford to pay the bills. I went back to using a pager!
