1- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the State revenue will get a boost with additional Rs 523 crore as State's share under central taxes.
Addressing a press conference, Sawant hailed the Union Budget announcing that State will receive Rs 1.50 lakh crore for capital investment.
Sawant said that Goa’s share of central tax devolution for 2025-26 will rise to Rs. 5,490.62 crore, an increase of Rs. 523 crore from the previous year.
2- High Court has directed SP North to conduct inquiry to find out reason behind deletion of CCTV footage (December) of some clubs, against which there were allegations of noise pollution by playing music beyond permissible limit and time. The High Court has also directed SP North to reply whether deleted footage can be retrieved or not, next hearing likely on 12 February.
3- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa will soon have intercity express trains like Vande Bharat running from Canacona to Pernem on Konkan railway double track in coming 2-3 years. He said that subsequently more cities would be connected.
“Goa gets allocation of Rs. 482 crores for Konkan Railway and South Western Railway works in Goa which includes Station Development, new lines, doubling and other miscellaneous activities” said Sawant
4- Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) CEO Sanjit Rodrigues informed that a policy for maintaining Smart City works post-completion will be drafted. He said that issues with completed projects will be addressed in a meeting with the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
"Of the total 35 projects, 26 works are completed; the balance 9 works including the road works will be completed within the deadline of March 31; works like landscaping, pavements may take till June 30," said Rodrigues
5- The Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) has cleared nvironmental Clearances of Vedanta block 7 (Cudnem Mineral Block); KAI Int'l Ltd block 8 (Thivim-Pirna) & JSW block 6 (Cudnem-Cormolem). The validity of the EC is valid for 30 years or till life of mine.
The Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) has granted environment clearance for manual extraction of sand mining in 12 zones in Mandovi and Zuari rivers. These include five zones in the Zuari River and seven in the Mandovi River.
6- A 22-year-old boy native of Kerala, working as ground staff at Mopa Airport, met with a tragic road traffic accident. Despite receiving the best medical treatment at Goa Medical College, he was declared brain dead.
The State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) Goa Medical College has allocated the kidneys to 33-year-old and 24-year-old male recipients at Goa Medical College.
The liver was allocated by the Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO) West to MGM Hospital Aurangabad.
"Organ donation is the greatest form of donation, requiring immense courage and generosity, my gratitude to the donor family for saying yes to organ donation in the time of grief," said Prof. Dr. S.M. Bandekar, Dean, Goa Medical College and Hospital.
This marks the eighth organ donation under the umbrella of SOTTO Goa. SOTTO has allocated 16 kidneys and facilitated allocation of 4 Heart, 7 Liver and 2 Lungs through ROTTO West and NOTTO since its inception in 2019.
