How to remove a trailing newline in Python

This was interesting, but didn't help me with my specific problem. My strings come from a text file and everything I do to strip the newlines doesn't seem to work. I have a loop reading each line and storing them into an array, but that includes the newline and I can't seem to get rid of it. Your video was great though, short and to the point.
