That’s actually pretty cool. I’m amazed at how much detail was in that thing, for a 3D printed model. Hats off to whoever got that into a model format. And hats off to Robert for sending it to you.

This is really cool. I feel like it's easier to understand with a visual reference. This type of thing is really interesting

Fun fact: In the 10 century BCE, they also used a large 3D printer to make the Taanach cult stand.

In all seriousness, nice to have this, I'm sure!

OMG. Can you ask him for the STL files? I'd LOVE to print my own.

That’s an awesome gift!

Quick question—as you have seen the real deal, is it possible that the access windows are not for looking into a shrine for a votive figure, but rather for airflow to keep a fire burning underneath & release the scents of the aromatics that would have been laid on the “roof” of the altar?

I guess that would be indicated by the insides being either stained by the carbon from the fire or chemically altered by the heat from the fire. So, do you know if the original had any residues either on the roof (which would indicate that the incense was burned on top) or inside, indicating that the fire was inside the object and the incense was indirectly heated instead of directly burned)?

Thanks for sharing this with us, and thanks again to the individual who gifted you with this amazing piece of art!

That's a beautiful piece of artwork. Not only did he do a lot of work creating the model and then printing it, he did a tremendous job painting it and weathering it. That last part alone certainly took several hours of painstaking work.

What a kool idea, of a miniature temple. The Emperor of Japan is understood to be a portable shrine. Do you have action figures that might take up residence?

That's awesome! I'm always impressed by what ancient art 3D modelers are bringing into the modern area.

Female at the bottom is the "master of animals" motif. Its like the lions gate at Mycenae... Matthew Robert's has a book in the works that talks about that motif and Mabel Collins writes about it in her books
