AL024 - Mathame - Skywalking

Mathame refine their singular sound on ‘Skywalking’ and a collaboration with Tale Of Us, ‘Departure’.
Following 2018’s ‘Nothing Around Us’ single, Mathame show no sign of slowing down. Their Afterlife Recordings follow up is a dancefloor single of epic proportions, taking the duo further into a realm of their own. Tension hangs off the sliding chords and spacious arrangements. In the case of ‘Skywalking’ it reaches an uplifting, euphoric crescendo, in Tale Of Us’ intro edit of ‘Departure’ the theme goes darker and off-kilter. Bona fide anthems in the sets of Mathame and Tale Of Us.

It seems unbelievable to me it has been only four and a half months since I first heard this track in Printworks on Afterlife London 2018. In my mind I feel this sound has been with me for a very long time, as it brings me so many memories and all of them are fulfilled with pure joy and excitement when this exceptional sound comes to my ears and brain. Starting with Tale of Us closing Printworks, followed by perfect Giovanelli brothers’ performance in Smolna where everyone was singing out loud Depeche Mode 'Enjoy the Silence' preceding this masterpiece, finally finding out it has been released while being in the middle of India and – what is the most important – knowing that still there will be a few more moments in my life where I will be with my friends and I will know they feel exactly what I feel when Skywalking is dropped. Thank you Matteo and Amedeo for giving me an opportunity to live these moments.
