NATO was originally established as an Intergovernmental Military Defense Alliance among 30 Free European Nations plus the USA and Canada after the 2nd World War, designed as a collective security for members against attacks from third parties, and more specifically from the USSR during the Cold War. It was not meant for offensive or invasion purposes. But since the reunification of East and West Germany in October 1990, and subsequent collapse of the Warsaw Pact in February 1991, NATO Leaders' strategy somewhat changed. But the Leaders of the USA (c/o former US Sec. of State James Baker & late US Pres. George H.W. Bush), the UK (c/o late UK PM Margaret Thatcher), Germany (c/o late Chancellor Helmut Kohl & late Vice-Chancellor Hans Dietrich Genscher), and France (c/o the late French Pres. Francois Mitterrand) had given firm commitments to the late Russian Pres. Mikhail Gorbachev in 1990-91 that "NATO WOULD NOT EXPAND EASTWARDS" closer to the Russian borders. These commitments had been confirmed by the former US Pres. Bill Clinton to the late Russian Pres. Boris Yeltsin in 1993 after the breakdown of the USSR. But despite these commitments though, NATO Leaders still adopted a hegemonic policy of expansionism by getting 15 more Northern, Eastern, and Southern European countries as members of the Military Alliance since 1999 up to the present; and Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina are waiting in the list for possible future members. These developments, including the major Western governments led COUP against the duly elected Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych government in 2014 had greatly disappointed Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin and pushed him against the wall that he had been PROVOKED to act to protect his country's National Security interests, and ordered the annexation of Crimea (where the country keeps its Black Sea Naval Fleet) into the Russian Federation after the installed Ukrainian government led by Pres. Petro Poroshenko allowed the persecution of native Russians in the Donbas Region and Southern Ukraine. As the persecution and/or genocide of native Russians in Ukraine continued (despite the Minsk I & II Agreements), and the plan of Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskjy to apply for NATO membership had been revealed, Pres. Putin was forced to order this Russian "Special Military Operations" in Ukraine in February 2022. I am not a supporter of Pres. Putin, but the various NATO Secretary Generals from George Robertson of the UK to Jens Stoltenberg of the Netherlands appeared to have brushed aside Pres. Putin's vital security concerns and the utter disregard of the various commitments made by previous leaders of the USA, UK, Germany and France (as aforementioned above), showed that NATO Leaders CANNOT BE TRUSTED. Now tell me, who is the REAL PROVOCATEUR in this war in Ukraine. NATO can still redeem its respect in the world by discontinuing supplying weapons of war to Ukraine and, instead, encouraging/enjoining the government in Ukraine to implement a ceasefire and start a NEGOTIATED SETTLEMENT with the Kremlin of Russia on this conflict before it blows out into a wider thermo-nuclear war that may render Europe and North America, if not the entire world, uninhabitable for decades if not centuries. Let's all pray that MATURED MINDS prevail, NOT the WARMONGERS, in this NATO conference.

President Biden, always gives thanks to everyone, that doesn’t mean he has dementia, it means he respectful, and caring. NATO’s purpose is to protect the people and territory of its members, and they always do their best, Zelensky’s has given his gratitude many times for NATO. I believe this event was a way to show appreciation for their work. People don’t seem to get it, unfortunately there are a lot of countries that will bully other countries, and wiil keep bullying countries, if there is no one to stop them, so be greatful for NATO, and research.
