Lewis Hamilton Fastest at F1 testing | 2013
Показать описание
Lewis Hamilton set a 1:20.55 on Saturday for his new team Mercedes AMG Petronas. This time was faster than the time he set last year when he took pole position on the same circuit for the Spanish GP when he was still with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes.
Lewis' new team-mate Nico Rosberg followed up with an even faster time on the Sunday setting a 1.20:13. Interestingly Lewis set his fastest time on the first of a five lap run, whereas Nico set his on a single lap run. This means that Nico would have had less fuel in the car and would have therefore been lighter - 10kg of fuel equates to 0.38 seconds extra a lap.
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was 3/10ths behind Rosberg. Alonso says the F138 feels 200 times better than last year's model. Ferrari will be slightly delayed in adding their aerodynamic upgrades to the car but they should be ready by qualifying at Melbourne GP on 16th March 2013. Red Bull were keeping their cards close to their chest.
Sebastian Vettel even allowed Fernando Alonso past him on the track which we assume was to ensure Fernando couldn't see the rear of the car! Red Bull were also having trouble with the new Pirelli tyre compounds.
The times may have been fast this weekend but all that really counts is qualifying at the Melbourne. Who do you think will be on pole position?
