This shows how intelligent he is, instead of going through 5 stages of Grief he just accepted his destiny (also psychotic since he didn't felt emotions). Dunno if they'll show that Barry actually got power due to Thawne's lightning while Thawne was chasing future Flash and missed him.
Both Flash and RF are paradoxes without each other both will be erased.

yess the actual origin of reverse flash. eobard thawne idolized the flash. he spent his family fortune replicating the accident that created the flash’s powers. the first thing he did was use the cosmic treadmill (a device barry allen created that helped him travel in time to go back to the opening day of the flash museum (he knew exactly what time flash would be there because the commemorative plaque was still on the building in his era). he wanted to tell his hero about his plan to continue the flash’s legacy as the flash of the 25th century. unfortunately, he arrived several years later than he intended, mentally confused by the trip. he staggered into the museum and walked into the rogues' gallery, the displays about the flash’s foes. the central display commemorated his greatest nemesis, the one opponent he was forced to kill in order to stop him: the reverse flash, a.k.a time traveler eobard thawne.
in the comics, the realization that his greatest hero was fated to kill him caused thawne to have a psychotic break, curdling his obsessive love for barry allen into an obsessive hatred.
