Sounds like he valued fast cash more than he had hope in his friends.

If you want to be rich, all you have to do is make the correct decisions every time

Oh. Pardon me. I thought it was the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. That was the most expensive mistake of the 20th century.

This hurts so badly. My grandfather had stock in Apple and his financial advisor advised him to sell it because the company apparently wouldn’t go anywhere. Right before the iPod came out. Needless to say, I’m salty towards the idiot who thought that selling it was a smart idea, and grumbling how my grandfather actually listened to it.

There's no way they would have let him remain "the tiebreaker" until today, jobs would have found a way to take it all from them, can somebody who knows better tell me why Wozniak left the company a decade later

Even if he had held on and sold at the peak of their value, it's absolutely no more likely that he would be any happier. There's nothing wrong with living in a trailer park and playing penny slots. It's your perception that defines your reality, not your serendipity.

There’s plenty of stories of people who invented stuff but the idea was stolen. Believe it or not it’s actually quite common and in some cases quite sinister.

I feel his pain, to an extent. I bought 10 bitcoins for about $350 USD/ea back in late 2012. I won another 10 in a semi-local _Call of Duty_ tournament.

I lost my longtime & had a really hard time finding another, so I sold all of them at about $290/ea.

That one still stings a bit to this day.

He apparently values enjoyment of life more than money.
And let's not forget, Jobs may have been a Billionaire, but he's dead and can no longer spend his fortune, and this guy is still very much alive at 89, enjoying life:

So…. Investment shaming is a thing now? 😒

I know the feeling. If I had spent $800 on Bitcoin when it first came out at 1 dollar, I'd now be a multi millionaire.

This video encapsulates why everyone is miserable.

Honestly, his friends should have probably bought him a house or something

I certainly hope that he's not laying there hating himself for his unlucky decision. He could not have possibly known how big Apple would become. I hope he does find happiness and fulfillment even in a trailer park. It's possible. Money isn't everything. In fact money can make someone miserable in some cases

This is like my dad saying he almost bought a bunch of bitcoin for nearly nothing in 2010... but thought it was a scam...

Hindsight is 20/20, the $800 could have been worth a lot at the time.

Money buys happiness up to and until you have enough that you don't need to worry about money. Beyond that lies misery and pathological greed. This man seems like he lived a better life than that old scrooge Jobs did. He didn't lose any money so that "mistake" cost him nothing. Only bougie bosses frame money not earned/stolen as money lost.

Yeah and i bought 20 btc back in 2012 and sold for 1000% in 2013. Its in the past, cant be mad at myself and my missing ability to foresee the future.

But who needs $800 so much that you don’t hold onto it just out of curiosity. Oh my.
