Have you ever wondered how to make those beautiful 5 strand braids you see all over the internet but can't seem to figure out how to make it look a certain way? In this tutorial, we'll dive into some basics on how to roll, braid & shape strands & challah into beautiful traditional five braid challot! This easy to follow guide on different ways to make a classic 5 strand is perfect for beginners & those wanting to master all the braiding basics & techniques!
I've covered this particular braiding pattern along with other different patterns in one of my other videos: 4 Easy Ways to Braid 5 Strand Challah
But I believe this pattern deserves a video of it's own with some extra attention to detail & to better help those trying to achieve that beautiful shape & 3D effect & the various ways to shape this braid, including a round challah!

For reference, I used five large pieces of dough, ranging from 550 grams to 560 grams, for each challah. Each of those pieces were further divided into five equal pieces for each 5 strand challah.
