Classic 1974 Kawasaki restored from the ground up by my dad. It was a rusted mess when he got it. This was his first time riding it since the rebuild.

My heart still misses a few beats when I see and hear this legendary motorcycle. I’m from Adelaide Australia. I bought one of these new in 1974. Same color as the one here. I’m too old now to ride, but I will forever cherish this magnificent machine as it brought such pleasure into my life.

I totally agree with "picmakeover" In my opinion the Z1 900 Kawasaki is the best
looking motorcycle ever made.  It looks fantastic from any angle, and oozes loads
of character, unlike all the boring plastic missiles of today.  I was around 15 years
old when these came out in the early 70's.  I instantly fell in love with the look of
the bike, from the way the tank flowed into the side panels to those beautiful upswept exhaust pipes.  I loved all the bikes from that era, but I think the mighty
Z1 was head and shoulders over the competition.

Lovely restoration. Quick but gave you the big heartbeats at speed on some corners as I remember.

Congrats on a fantastic restoration. It must have been very difficult. You have saved a beautiful bike from the trash heap and I want to thank you. I find that motorcycles today lack any character and style. The Z1 is a work of art and yours is as beautiful as I have ever seen. I hope you enjoy it for many years!

Fantastic job on the rebuild. I still ride mine that I bought in 1974 and still in mint condition. Enjoy

Sweet! I still have my 1973 Z2 750RS that I bought new while stationed in Japan. Your dad did a great job! Nice 74 orange tiger colors!

I have this bike in my shed right now. Unfortunately it doesn't look that good, but it's been indoors out of the elements since I quit riding it in 95. I intend to get it restored not quite original tho. It will be a great project once I set upon it...

What a beautiful Z1A it sounds and looks magnificent, what is that slight whistling or whirring sound at idle, how far did you go with the rebuild, congratulations.

Am I mistaken, or does this superb resto have an hydraulically activated clutch? If so, then what model bike is it from, and how difficult was the modification? Top job!

sounds like it needs one shim adjustment in the cam
