Why I HATE this Paint by Numbers - Tips & Tricks for Painting by Numbers

In this video I give several tips & tricks on how to get through a paint by numbers painting smoothly. After that, I list all the problems that occurred during my time painting this (there were a lot).

I still don't recommend this website. They don't use original art and don't pay the artist for the pictures they use. Also I saw a pbn on there that was stolen from legit pbn websites!
If you love paint by numbers then please consider only buying from websites which use original artwork. I know they're more expensive, but an artist puts a lot of time in their artwork and because of these kind of websites, they don't get paid for their work. If I knew more about how these websites steal art when I purchased this, I wouldn't have bought this painting.

Sry... didnt understand your statement: "It takes a looong time to finish"... I thought it was a/project, b/ a way to relax and enjoy yourself, C/show your creative side to come to life. Its not a rush to finished fast???

In your situation right now w a pbn that’s so big, has tiny, tiny cells, then big spaces & the paint (all I can say is not fun to deal with) & getting very discouraged w it as do this for fun & when paint quality is so bad it stops being fun for me but glad you were able to finish & looks great!

Awesome video! I can relate with your frustrations. I also tried a paint-by-numbers and found it a strange way of painting as you don’t really blend the colours like you would in a normal paining

I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video. When I first saw it, I immediately thought of the "Japanese Garden" and the beautiful pink tree. There is quite a variety of color on the canvas too, which is also eye catching. I liked what you said about painting over the lines to cover them. . . don't stay inside too much like we were taught as young children! I will subscribe to your channel, and I look forward to watching more of them! I am wondering why some of the numbers are so much bigger than the others, since they are all done digitally? I know this video is 3y old and you may have already gotten this tip, but a wet palette will help tons for keeping your paint from trying out and if you use a plastic toothpick or something of the sort, you can take out a tiny amount of paint, put it on the wet palette, then thicken, thin or mix your paints as needed. it has gotten rid of a huge frustration with my pbn with drying paints.

Can I ask a stupid question? Are we supposed to dip our brush in water each time before we then dip it into the paint? I see pics of people's finished paintings and the paint looks so smooth. If I don't dip mine in water it looks too thick but if I dip in water it looks runny. What am I doing wrong? Hope somebody can help. Thanks!

I suggest trying Schipper if it’s possible for you - it is excellent quality. I’m not an expert, but the canvas, brush and paints are amazing.

which website or exact product would you recommend that you have had a great experience with? One with good quality and all other good things you would want in a paint by numbers kit?

I decided to try a paint by the numbers oil painting the tree serenity. So far I am very disappointed. I don’t think these paints are oil at all. The paint takes less than 30 minutes to dry and doesn’t blend properly. And the colors are very dull and non-vibrant.
Furthermore the canvas was very creased when it came in by mail I should’ve ironed it but I didn’t have an iron. I framed it on a solid board but I was not able to stretch out all the creases, this is probably my fault I should’ve ironed it first.
I’m going to slowly complete it once it’s done what I may do is paint over it with actual oil paint and see if I get a better product.
Does anyone know what type of paint they provide you an oil paint set? because I am sure it’s not oil. It smells like acrylic but a bit stronger almost like enamel.
