The craftsmanship doesn't exist anymore. It would be a pre-fabricated approximation. And still cost $200 million to build

If its still for sale its only because 1) the cost / permitting to do basic renovation would cost 50 million 2) its considered a landmark so you can't really renovate it to any comfortable degree.

I could easily build something like this today for under $10, 000, 000! Just not in NY where the land costs $45, 000, 000. My neighbor is building one by had down the street in Long Beach, Ca for under $2, 000, 000. So far it’s taken him 5 years. 80% done. Fabulous craftsmanship on various types of wood.
