IMPORTANT: 1. Once loaded, TWIRL THE WASHING ARM above your lower rack dishes to make sure it has free movement in a complete circle. If a dish or implement is sticking up, it can block the movement of the washing arm and your dishes will not be evenly clean. 2. ALSO: Turn on your sink's HOT WATER and let it run until it is very hot BEFORE you start your dishwasher. Otherwise, your dishes will be washed in cold water, unless your dishwasher has a built-in water heating feature. 3. Use only an ounce or two of dishwasher soap in filler compartment

top and under its trap door. Too much soap will overload your dishwasher and bog it down, often causing complete breakdowns. 4. Wash the fine mesh filter(located in bottom of washer tub) frequently. These tips were given to me by a very honest dishwasher repair man. Since I've been using these tips, I have had no dishwasher trouble for years, and my dishes and utensils are always perfectly clean.

I must admit that I never thought I’d be looking for a video on loading dish washers but this one proved to be very useful. I’ve been having problems lately and I see now that it could be my detergent!!!! It doesn’t dissolve well and my dishes weren’t coming super clean, and now I realize it must be it, as it is an old box I was glad to find in my laundry room and spared me an unnecessary trip during this pandemic. Many thanks for the tip!

When I was living at my parents' house, I used to simply put away the dishes without giving it a thought - and then automatically get chewed out by my mother for not placing them properly. Now that I finally have my own dishwasher, I must humble myself before this video 😅

Yeah, yeah, but how do you cook on that stove top without your pans falling to the floor?

Can't wait to share this. We've had dishwasher loading wars forever :) We always rinse our dishes to avoid food collecting in the machine ... seemed reasonable. Who knew - we've been schooled :) Thanks for this informative video!

This was a great video. Thanks for the great advice! My first house and first dishwasher at age 50... I really had no clue how to load it.

This was VERY helpful. I've been placing dishes in where I can find a spot and decided to take a minute to learn how to properly use my dishwasher.

I bought a very large multi-pack of Miele tabs when I purchased my DW 5 years ago. And I break the tabs in half for each load so I just finished using them. They worked just fine.

I actually learned stuff. Thanks Laura. My husband wins on the "no need to rinse it in advance" point.

As far as putting dishes with food still on them in the dishwasher...Many years ago, a Plumber advised me that the worse thing to put in the disposer is FOOD. The disposer is meant for tiny bits of food and not large table scraps. For instance, if one puts a potato in the disposer, the disposer will chop it up but your pipes then have an entire potato in them. Over time, this will clog the pipes with FOOD. Dishwasher outputs normally do not even go through the disposer side. Therefore, a lot of food particles will eventually clog the pipes. I know there are filters in the dishwashers. They do block a lot of larger items from going in the pipes but a lot of those food particles break up and go through the filters anyway. All this to say – it is best to scrape the large items off the plates into the garbage. Some stains always need to be rinsed off. Dried egg yolks are not cleaned in the dishwasher. LOL.

Seems I need to be a rocket scientist to use my dishwasher

“To avoid overcrowding you can handwash few items”
No thanks. It will wait second load.

I'm turning 33 and I've NEVER used or seen (in person) a dishwasher. I'm planning to get one and I had no idea it's better not to pre-rinse the dishes. Such a great and helpful video for someone who is so intimidated by the machine
