Hello fellow Beatlemaniacs! I want to thank Ray for having me on his channel and taking the time to chat. I had a lot of fun revisiting the development of The Beatles: Rock Band and just generally talking Beatles, something I don't get to do enough in my daily life. I'll check in and answer questions in the comments if anyone has anything else they're curious about. Thanks for watching!

This was such a fascinating interview that I never knew I needed. Beatles Rock Band was what got me into the Beatles in high school, and it was basically the gateway to all of my musical interests

I'll always remember the day (09.09.09!). I went to my nearest game store, I was 17 years old (almost 30 now), bought the limited edition pack (drums, bass, mic and game), got back to my car with that huge box while everyone stared at me, and invited my 2 best friends to play the game. What an awesome game, what a labour of love it was. It was my "beatles" period and it felt like a gift to play such an incredible game. I also bought the DLC's, what a shame we couldn't have the whole catalogue, but still, a great deal.

The Beatles: Rock Band is great. While I’ve never actually played the game, I’ve played through the setlist on Clone Hero (a clone of Guitar Hero that allows you to play songs from Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and stuff made by the fan community) and it was a lot of fun.

The Beatles: Rock Band still has a lot of fans. There are videos on it, there are videos showcasing it, and there’s even a dedicated group of fans going through the entire Beatles core catalogue and making customs to play in the game. People have gotten creative with the game. It’s great to see that there are people who still cherish these games that fizzled out years ago.

I was eleven when this game came out, and a very avid gamer. This was, indeed, my introduction to The Beatles, and they’ve been my favorite band ever since. Thank you so much for this interview! It brought back so many happy memories.

As a massive fan of the Rock Band franchise, this was awesome to hear the behind the scenes work on the game. We need a sequel or remaster of The Beatles: Rock Band!

This is absolutely amazing! The Rock Band game has always managed to make me feel more entwined into the music with the added visuals and isolated tracks that have surfaced. Looking forward to some more content from YCUT!

I'll admit that I haven't played it... but do remember the joy of stumbling across the stems. WOW, was that incredible... being able to isolate and mix-and-match the various tracks together.
And on "you can't unhear this" theme: I can no longer unhear George's fumbling first attempt at a guitar solo on Can't Buy Me Love — mostly buried in the mix on the album but exposed on the RockBand vocal track.

I love the Beatles rock band videos & I'm glad they're becoming more & more available on you tube. You can tell that for the creators, it was a real labor of love. And as for the ah's on Day in the Life, it does sound like John to the casual listener. But it's definitely Paul. There are many examples of them trading off parts (usually the earlier stuff) & having vocal timbres so closely matched that it can be a little tricky to tell which of the two is singing (the tag on Eight Days a Week, the harmony part on I don't want to spoil the party, just off the top of my head). But the more you listen, the better you get at recognizing the qualities of their respective voices. And it's definitely Paul.

I remember dragging my dad to the midnight release at GameStop when I was 14 so I could pick up my copy that included the Hofner and drum kit. Thanks for making this video! I loved that game so much, I'm just sad we couldn't get their entire catalogue

I’m a big fan of YCUT and The Beatles: Rock Band - even making videos about the Beatles in gaming myself. But I cannot believe 1. How I missed this in my sub feed when it came out and 2. How amazing this video really is. Thanks both!

I want to add a public mea culpa about where I saw the info on Paul singing the "aahhhs" in A Day In The Life. I tried finding the passage in Mark Lewishon's The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions and couldn't find it, and now that I'm thinking about it again, the passage was in Recording The Beatles. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of it because it's insanely expensive, but it's there.
