I just don't think his raw talent has evolved in the way Lando's or. even Albon's has. He still drives like he has something to prove.

Respected him when he was at Williams, but it plummeted at Imola with that crash with Bottas and what happened after, shows his character, also what's sadder is over the years he hasn't changed his perspective that he's some sort of destined driver.

I think it was Martin Brundle who said, "The great drivers make the good drivers look ordinary" and unfortunately, this is what's happening to George. Just like what Checo, Albon, Gasly went through, they all realized that there's a level of speed that they can't reach even when they're pushing to the max.

George just needs to get ego checked hard. Because he was "destined" to be the replacement to Lewis, but when he finally got to Mercedes and it was not what he was expecting, he didn't really change. He tried to form the team around him, which as much of a good idea that is, won't work when you have a seven time WDC as your teammate, and the number one driver for the team for more than 6 years (I felt like that even with Hamilton beating Rosberg, it was not just a straight up #1 driver since it got chaotic during their time together). Russell needs to get his shit together and realize that its not time for him to lead, but a time for him to learn. He is now with the top end of the grid and it gets MUCH more cutthroat, I mean look at RBR and what happened after Max took the #1 spot after 2018. If he doesn't start learning from Hamilton and how he handles the team, George will be pushed to the side like a failed option.

His own mistakes, team mistakes and plain bad luck cost George a lot this year.

George now feels a lot like Max in 2017-18 where he was quick but had small errors with big consequences and things not going his way.

If he continues on this path, and luck and mistakes even out, he's never going to lose by so much to Lewis ever again

The fact that this is the first time ive heard of George admit an incident was his fault is just bad

I think the one making this video and most of the comments here just don't like Russell's ego but that's what you must have to be a champion. You can't just be a Bottas or barichello and be happy to settle for mediocrity as a second driver. You gotta go all in or go out. Turning aggresively, going for aggressive strategy is what he needs. That would make a point for others to expect what you'll get if you go side by side with him just like how Max has now an aura, you know what to expect if you go side by side with him.

I think it’s a bit ridiculous. Bro won last year in the only race merc could win, and literally beat lewis Hamilton his first year at merc. Sure he’s had a rough season but so has merc. Hamilton hasn’t done great past few years either and there’s no criticisms of him.

Your analysis is spot on. His mistakes yesterday got to him. I'm expecting better performances going forward.

I think George spent his entire pre formula one career winning and 5 years of shit cars in F1 is taking its toll. Hes was given a good car exactly 1 time at 1 race and we all saw what he did with it. As a fan of his it sucks. We all hoped mecedes had a good car for him in the new era but thats never a guarantee.

While George has made his mistakes, I don’t believe he is anywhere near circling the drain. I’m not sure he needs a negative hype video lol.

Finishing P8 in the WDC is the worst result of any Mercedes driver since 2012 and if Ferrari is going to beat Mercedes to P2 in the WCC, stripping Toto the Finance Guy and his buddy Ratcliffe of 10 million dollar in dividends next year, the blame will be firmly on George Russell.

Russell's predicament is easily explained, he was signed as "the future" but "the past" just doesn't want to go away. If Russell does not reinvent himself pronto as "Bottas replacement", I'm afraid, he will have to make room for a "Russell replacement" rather sooner than later. Championship material he is not.

God these comments!!!
My opinion:
1. George is having a bad year, maybe because of his own mistakes and just bad luck, but it doesn't mean he is down the drain. He will get up and learns from his mistakes.
2. Yes, George did beat Hamilton last year, but remember at the start of the year Hamilton was experimenting more because merc thought they had a chance of winning WDC. But no one can take that away from Goerge.
3. As for who is better George and Lewis. You can't give a one word answer to this. I think lewis has more experience, skill and patience to do what needs to be done. Lewis has already proven that he is one of the fucking best but George has yet to prove it. And I am hopefull George will prove it. And Lewis will also get his 8th on paper.

His constant whining on the radio is what makes me despise him. If Hamilton is obviously faster coming up on him he starts with his “think about the team results we should hold our positions” crap. Then blaming Hamilton for Singapore was the worst. He’s a punk.

A garbage car increases errors exponentially. Lewis' experience and maturity calibrates for this. George will continue to grow and win races with a decent car.

No UK people want to be honest about this because they are so deep into Hamilton’s bum.

Hamilton hurt his own race in his efforts to hurt Russell’s race in 3 of the last 5 races and not a word is said about it on any UK channel

He pushed Russell so far off that Hamilton went off as well. Later in the race Russell moved aside to let Hamilton through so all must be good right

Nope

The very next race Hamilton crashes into him knocking himself out of the race and Russell to the back of the field m. So surely Hamilton will play team game after this

Nope

2 races later Hamilton and Russell have slower cars so they will work together as Russell asked right, nope. Hamilton either needed to go faster to keep a gap to Perez or slower to keep George in the DRS zone so Russell could fight Perez. But Hamilton refused, said he was saving his tires at exactly the wrong pace. Which allowed Perez past them both

But not a word. This isn’t the only active sabotage Hamilton has done, it’s just the most recent that I can point to that you all will remember and still not talk about because you have this weird idea that tearing George down will build Lewis up. It’s not true but literally every UK channel does it

Merc needs to get over 2021 and stop doing everything in there power to force an 8th for Lewis when he doesn’t have the car for it (or the skill anymore….)

Give George a good car and give him the winning strategy and he will win.

Merc brought him up to be the “new team leader” and take over for Hamilton but they keep regulating him to the backseat so lewis can get his 8th.

Now he is driving to prove to himself and everyone else that he has the skill to be the new leader cause clearly he thinks the Mercedes team doesn’t think he has it in him anymore, if that’s the case then why bring him on in the first place? They shot themselves in the foot and are on the verge of losing a fantastic driver who could lead there team to multiple championships cause they can’t decide if they want to get Lewis an 8th or let George be the new leader like they said he was going to be.

Which one is it merc, do you want to build up the new leader or do you want to stick to the old guard? Pick one.
