People crying about hydrogen in the comments meanwhile lithium ion batteries burn for days hot enough to melt steel while at the same time giving off toxic chemicals

Oh and they don't need oxygen to do that, you can literally submerge them in water and they'll still keep burning

I usually support electric . But in a choice between hydrogen vs gas/diesel, I'll go with gas/diesel. It's better to fill a truck with diesel/electricity rather than using an insane amount of fuel/electricity to extract hydrogen from it's compounds where there're conversion losses, storage & handling issue ( not to forget after a certain period of time, some amount of fuel must be released)

Hydrogen is pretty scary on passager vehicles. The fuel system has to have such tight tolerances to ensure youre not going to be the next Hindenburg.

Absolutely! I was able to split water and create my own hydrogen. What I had trouble with was the electrical and electronical assistance. I had nothing to help me feel safe so I bought my own unit. It worked very well

Hydrogen really is the saviour for people who live in rural areas and when the lithium shortage becomes a real problem along with grids not being able to cope with battery cars. Hopefully it'll get a proper chance along with synthetic fuel.

Hi Jerry, just a small correction. Platinum is the catalyst and carbon paper you used here is the Gas Diffusion Layer. The catalyst is what actually splits the hydrogen into protons and electrons. GDL provides even flow of gas to the catalyst particles! Great video 😊

When I was on the Volvo Owner Operator Advisory Council, we were talking to the engineers. This was in 2007. They said they were not spending much money on further diesel engine development, because they felt that hydrogen would be the coming power in the next five years. I told them their grandchildren might possibly live long enough to see any significant numbers of hydrogen powered trucks, but they wouldn't, and I wouldn't. I should have bet them a new truck, because they are sure embarrassed now, if they remember that conversation. And I would say the same thing to you.
