This is episode 84 of the #MyFirstJobPodcast premiers tomorrow! It features Shivi Kumar in conversation with the podcast host Venu Gopal Nair.

Shivi took a while to figure out her career path. She studied law and then went on to do a Master's Diploma in Journalism. She worked in different media houses in diverse roles until she stumbled upon reality/non-fiction television. And has stayed on this path since then.

She founded her own production house along with like-minded friends – which they ran successfully for 7 years. By throwing herself into the deep end of the business, she learnt on the job and created some amazing and original content for brands, platforms, corporates and television companies. She realised that her forte lay in unscripted reality series.

She and her friends decided to move on and closed their production house just before COVID. Since then she has been on her own and has done some incredibly challenging, yet artistically satiating work. She creatively designed and adapted the award-winning “Say Yes To The Dress, India” ensuring that this heartfelt series stayed true to its original format.

More recently, she conceptualised and executed the finale episode of L’Oreal’s Indian Hairdressing Award’ Series, a non-fiction reality series for JioCinema headlined by Karan Johar.

There is a lot that Shivi has to share about her journey. The challenges, in-depth planning, people management skills, communication skills and patience that are an integral part of this career.
