Huey Lewis & The News ~ I Want A New Drug 1983 Extended Meow Mix

My second upload this week to keep y'all entertained
The husky voiced Huey Lewis came into my record store, Sam The Record Man, Toronto back in da day and was looking for barbershop quartet recordings, the section was not far from the recordings of birds from all over the world up on the third floor. Just sayin' if it was out there Sam's had it. Sheila helped me find them and I left it to the two of them. He is very charismatic and unassuming.
Back to "I Want A New Drug", I just got a request to do this one so here it is! I am cooped up in home cos my day job is closed down temporarily so I am expending my creativity this way, finding ways to keep me and you occupied a few minutes at a time.
Huey Lewis & The News started off as Huey Lewis & The American Express. Their try at a disco song "Exodisco" a disco version of the theme from the film Exodus, was a failure. Also Chrysalis was not a fan of the American Express moniker because of possible copyright infringement.
Once the name was adopted in early 1980, they released their first self titled LP. Two years later, "Do You Believe In Love" drove the album "Picture This" to gold status when it peaked at #7 on the Hot100.
Then came their 1983 commercial breakthrough, "Sports" that gave us four Top 10 singles, "Heart & Soul", "The Heart Of Rock & Roll", "If This Is It" and "I Want A New Drug" selling ten million copies in the US alone. However, most of this fame was attained in 1984 which put their career in overdrive.
