🎬 Music Video by Dano’s Island Sounds 🎶
Start your day with relaxing steel drum music and let the tenor pan lift your mood with the carefree energy of Dano’s Island Sounds. 🌴🥁
This is my take on "No Woman, No Cry" — a heartfelt steel pan rendition of the Bob Marley classic, originally released on the 1974 album Natty Dread. I performed the tenor steel pan, drum set, electric guitar (for those recognizable reggae rhythm skanks), and added percussion elements like the Brazilian agogo bell and Afuche Cabasa shaker. I was joined by two incredible San Diego musicians: the smooth Robbie Hutchinson, bringing his wisdom and flair on double seconds, and Cecil McBee Jr., locking in the phat groove on bass.
The song itself carries deep roots. Though widely associated with Bob Marley, the official songwriting credit goes to his friend Vincent Ford, who ran a soup kitchen in Trenchtown. Marley's gesture helped ensure Ford could continue supporting the local community.
Whether you're watching the waves or easing into your evening, I hope this version brings you a bit of peace and island spirit. ☀️
