Unfortunately this video do not describe sharing files but copying. Sharing is when two machines can use the same folder at the same time.

Copying after mounting the vhdx virtual hard drive worked for me without issues unlike the other comments I see. Might be because I unmounted the virtual hard drive (from ThisPC) after copying the files. This was the a convenient method unlike several others I see suggested in stack overflow, etc

Don't do this, it is gonna break up the Vhdx!

I hope you read the comments before you did this. I didnt and now Im stuck like the rest of the comments with a broken VM. If anyone has a solution, please post it below.

I cant believe the creator of this video hasnt addressed anyone in the comments who screwed their VMs up by following his directions.

after this steps i could not run VM...
"an error occurred while attempting to start the selected virtual machine cannot create checkpoint"

Did all the steps on 2 different VMs and they still work fine.
So... if you're doing it, do at your own risk, i'd recommend making a checkpoint first.

Copy - paste does not work for windows 11 to a windows 10 hyper-v VM.

Thanks! By recommending to mount the disk you've corrupted my hard drive.
Time to start again, total waste of hours because you recommended that.

this is more of a tutorial on how to break your VM instead of transferring files.

Now i cannot start my virtual machine after this. All my data lost, the worst solution you provided.
ERROR - an error occurred while attempting to start the selected virtual machine cannot create checkpoint"

I blame YouTube for not having a ****ing dislike count. If I had seen the like/dislike ratio I wouldn't have followed this blindly. And also I blame myself for being a ****ing sheep and trusting a random guy with my job. FML

Edit:
I managed to bring it back by creating a new VM, and selecting existing virtual hard disk in the wizard. First I tried to select Generation 2 as my VM type, which failed. Then I selected Generation 1 on retry and everything worked.
