Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

As a contractor in the UK I used to carry an obscene amount of tools with me in a toolbox in the cab and the John Deere toolbox on the tractor was full of bolts, nuts, circlips, linchpins, split pins, washers, chain links etc. Etc. Being far from home at times it really helped me finish a job and or get me home!

My grandfather had a problem with his dogs wandering off on his farm so he installed 6 large outdoor speakers on the HAM tower facing in different directions. It worked very well to recall the dogs and less observant grandchildren. If he were alive today to see how far Deere has slid he would probably have recommended Fendt.

Proud of you putting ancestors hammer back where you found it, never know when needed again.

It doesn’t matter the paint color. Local dealer support is a key factor.

We just gotta appreciate all of the jumps and hoops Zach has to go through to bring us these awsome videos! I might be young, but I wanna be a farmer now after watching all of these videos. Thank you and God bless

I’m just glad I’m not the only grown man watching other men farm. Feeling like I can go drink a beer with most of them, then remembering they don’t know me from Adam and Eve. So I’ll just keep drinking my beer and watching you guys work.

Astonishing how calm you are with all these expensive problems popping up one after the other. I get stressed when the engine light comes on just as power bill is due!!!

Guy I worked for had a 8230 that was our planting tractor. That spring he sent it to the local JD dealer to have the block gaskets replaced. While they had it apart he told the to go ahead and replace the rods and mains. They did the job and we got it back. For 2 weeks it wasn't pushed hard, just moving equipment around the yard. After running it for about an hour or two pulling a ejector bucket the oil pressure dropped. When we pulled the oil filter, it was completely stopped up by metal flakes. To shorten the story, they had to put a brand new engine in the tractor because they couldn't find a reman for it. Bad thing is the tractor only had about 2500 hours on it at the time.

I loved your closing As a fellow countryside dweller (down in southwestern Missouri) I agree with you 120%! There isn't enough money in the whole world for someone to pay me to live in any sized city. Decisions, decisions, decisions, always there're some tough decisions to be made. Whether to pay for a reman engine plus labor to put it in, or invest that money plus a big chunk more to trade for a tractor that's newer and has fewer hours. Good luck!! I know you and your dad will decide wisely.

Just did an inventory on the tractor floor, flags (mark big rocks, big pipe (knock rocks out of discs and baskets), replacement shovels and bolts, impact, 3 or 4 sockets for impact, pipe wrench (general all around tool), 24" crescent wrench (for use as hammer, etc.), pliers, duct tape, zip ties, roll of hand towels, lunch pail, pile of plastic garbage/pop cans/liquor bottles, etc picked up in the field today. Ya, it does fill up.

Fendt/Challenger has up to a 673 hp Two Track now if you wanted more power but still liked the 2 track style vs the articulated style. The Fendt is still green and just say the Challenger has the Industrial John Deere paint

Your ancestors hammer was quite funny, thanks for that.

Your tractor dilemma is not a cheap or easy decision. Best of luck with it.

Zach, quite simply it's your dealer looking after their customers while you have a tractor down 👍

Zach you put 9 inch sweeps on you field cultivator, you will move more dirt, and get a finer seed bed, get a better kill on emerged weeds, and the 9 inch sweeps will wear into 7 inch sweeps. If you can get hard surfaced ones put them in the wheel tracks
