12 BASIC RULES OF GOLF (in just 90 seconds) - 2022 EDITION

Golf is a game of precision and accuracy. But before you can start playing, you need to know the basic rules. In this video, we'll give you a rundown of 12 rules from out of bounds to how many clubs you can carry. By the end of this video, you'll be ready to hit the links and start playing golf like a pro!

1. You must only carry 14 clubs. You may carry less, but not more.
2. You must play the ball as it lies, and you must not take any action to improve the lie of your ball.
3. Movable obstructions located anywhere on the course may be moved without penalty, for example, rakes or litter.
4. If you hit your ball out of bounds, you must take stroke-and-distance relief. Add one penalty stroke, and play a ball from where the previous stroke was made.
5. You have 3 minutes to search for a lost ball.
6. If you lose your ball, you must take stroke-and-distance relief by adding one penalty stroke and playing a ball from where the previous stroke was made.
7. Unplayable lie. Take one penalty stroke and drop the ball using the two-club length rule.
8. If you miss the ball on a swing intended to hit the ball, you must take one penalty stroke.
9. If your ball accidentally falls off the tee, there is no penalty.
10. You can’t ask for advice or give advice in official competition play.
11. The flagstick can stay in the hole while you putt.
12. You can move any loose impediments in a bunker, for example, loose rocks, or sticks.
