Thank you so much to Paul Ayres for this lockdown song which he wrote and gifted to choirs. We weren't going to do a third virtual piece but just love this one.
It starts in separate parts 'We stay apart' and for how long we don't know, 'the future's still unknown'. Other parts join in as we sing together but apart, as with our online choir rehearsals, and look to the time when we can get back together 'When we reconvene will we be the same?'. We acknowledge that everyone is affected every day and in very different ways. Though we're apart, however, we will continue to sing together 'make our art'. With unison and harmony and interweaving vocal lines, the music paints the lyrics beautifully.
We stay apart and we don't know the ending, the future's still unknown.
But staying strong so more voices can join us in chorus one day soon.
