I'll never forget the stormy seas; The dread I feel just remembering it is sickening. i strolled along the right side of the promenade deck - the clinking of tea cups became breaking of porcelain as the tea lady tried invain to steady herself & then she was gone; the only thing left behind was a mess of biscuits & me !! The sides of the sun deck came up, I didn't know which way to run, then, the ship began to lean. At a guess we leaned around 40° & right in the centre, the eye if you like i moved my eyes to the right to see where we were; that sight will haunt me forever: the blackest, horrible, most fierce engulfing deathly black hole that I would wish on anyone let alone a 9 year old. 16/09/1977 Julie Michelle (née.
