See the world's largest all-electric plane take off for the first time

See the all-electric nine passenger Cessna eCaravan in its inaugural flight take off for the first itme.

When a PT6 engine (like the one normally in the Caravan) starts up there are a few seconds before the prop starts spinning where you can hear only the engine sound. It isn’t really that loud compared to after the prop RPM increases. So my guess is the electric motor won’t contribute to much noise reduction. Working with prop manufacturers to fine tune designs for lower noise could be the next step.

Actually, the sound could be changed drastically to resemble that of a small jetliner if a 4 to 8 blades propeller was adopted.

In an airplane the most noise usually comes from the propeller. So don't dream about a dead silent Tesla-like electric plane.

Many will be surprised that most of the characteristic noise made by conventional airplanes will come from the propellers cutting through the air, rather than from the engines.

One minor point if you are going to do a video get a professional to do it. Makes investors more interested than seeing a blue sky.

It might be the largest at this minute, but there has ben larger electric planes out there.. e.g. that autonomus one with solar panels.. Then again, maybe that was more of a drone..
