I felt a bit silly for buying an overengineered device, but wanted anyone to be able to use it. It is truly fantastic. Only downside is the coffee is so good my bean budget is going up!

Hello Kev. Just wanted to let you know that it was you who heavily influenced me to purchase the Barista Express Impress, and I'm absolutely LOVING IT! I'm still terrible at frothing the milk though and currently trying out different types of beans so dialing in has been a bit tough. Unfortunately, my flat whites are still flat shites. Looking forward to learn more from your videos

Incredible machine. Really loving mine. I still use my Niche Zero along with my own Normcore tamper + other accessories when I have extra time in the mornings to play barista 😊

I recommended the Barista Impress to a friend who's not too familiar with making espressos and he couldn't be happier with it. Super simple, very friendly since it pretty much removes the whole puck prep mess part and overall good coffee coming out of it.
Now every time I get invited for a party at his place I'm the certified home barista and managed to serve around 20 ice coffees in a night without wasting too much time so yes, this is an amazing little device 👍 Cheers Kev !

I’ve noticed 1 tamp tends to cause ‘puck suck’ with it stuck on the screen. Two or three tamps and it’s not a problem.

Hi Kev. I also bought this machine over the express impress based mostly on your excellent review and I am so glad I spent the extra money. I’m getting great results with no previous barista experience (having upgraded from a DeLonghi bean to cup machine). As an alternative to the provided double shot basket I’m currently brewing using a 22mm deep IMS basket I purchased to try a slightly smaller shot, my logic being the single shot is too small and the received wisdom that the funnel shaped single basket apparently does a poorer job at even extraction. I wonder if you have ever done side by side comparisons of different basket volumes and reported on differences in taste / creama / whether grind size had to be tweaked due to basket volume etc. I’d be interested what someone with refined taste buds such as yourself could tell?

Hi Kev,
Just got my new Touch Impress. I am impressed indeed! But 1 question though: Group head doesn’t get warm, nore cupwarmer🤔. Your opinion/solution? Thanks!

Hello Kev, thanks for all your videos and suggestions! I'm eager to hear from you if you noticed any difference between the express impress and the touch impress in the puck system. Since the grinder is not exactly the same, I'm guessing the question won't be that easy. Cheers

I bought the impress touch and after 1 week and a half of intense dialing with different coffees and following the guidance of the machine, I returned it as all the coffee were sour. All of them. I think due to the lack of temperature that it was 168 F while in the barista pro that I have is 202 F. I will probably order the Oracle as the milk system is very important to me. The milk system in the impress touch was working quite well. Hope this comment will help. Maybe it was a problem in the unit I got and not in all the impress barista line.

Hi Kev, I love your videos and I'm a total beginner when it comes to espressos..but I decided to get this machine based on your videos! You made it so easy to understand for a complete novice. I do have an issue with my machine though! I'm using supermarket beans (just in case I waste a whole bag of good ones while I learn lol), but I am finding that the intelligent dose is very inconsistent? Could this be to do with the beans? I also find that after grinding and tamping, there are beans on the edge of the portafilter, instead of that nice clean rim. Is this an issue of the machine? Thanks!!

I'm still not sure how best to use this with decaf; I'm happy to buy pre-ground for the decaf (it's probably only 20% of the drinks we make) but does that mean I've now got to buy an extra tamp and not use the machine for that part or can I just measure out the dose with my scales manually and then use the impress tamp mechanism?

sorry for the non coffee question, how hot is the water temperature for the tea setting. I have a couple of tea drinkers and am trying to justify getting this machine!!

I subscribed, because….You mentioned a few important details no other reviewer of the Impress has bought up… including that dosing is a volumetric measurement not weight. Still, no matter what grind size I’ve used I cannot get above 17 grams with the Automatic setting and must use Manual.

Hi Kev, recently bought this machine and the portafilter moves very slightly to the right when tamping down, wondering if that’s normal since it’s held in by magnets? Worried if there’s an issue which may affect tamping? Thanks!

I bought this machine and promptly returned it. During calibration, the machine suggested a finer grind size due to brewing too quickly. After adjustment, it then suggested a coarser grind because it brewed too slowly. After maybe 5 attempts, reached a grind size of 17 which finally satisfied the machine. When I went to pull another espresso at 17, too fast, then too slow. Burned through almost a pound of fresh beans and got the green check mark maybe 5 times. Every other time, the grind was too coarse or too fine. Maybe I just got a dud, but lots of reports like this on reddit.

Just fingered my express impress and still can't feel the twist. It must be working as it does twist the portafilter is if it's slightly off centre.
