Henry VIII and The English Reformation is a dramatic period in English history.
King Henry VIII finds himself at the head of a very fragile Tudor Dynasty and he desperately needs a son and heir.
Unfortunately his Spanish wife and Queen, Catherine of Aragon has so far only provided one surviving child, a daughter, Mary.
In his desperation, he looks to the catholic church and Pope Clement VII for a solution.

So basically, Henry wanted a divorce, the church said "No", so Henry started his own church.

No wonder this is not discussed very frequently. The origins of the Church of England are truly apalling.

Without wanting to sound rude but you describe Henrican Reformation as protestant - whilst Cromwell does some initial monkeying around with theology e.g. Act of Ten Articles, 1539's Six Articles affirms Henry's Catholic credentials - bar the whole break and dissolution thing which was more political and financial in its cause.

You could also add that Pope Clement VII did not wanted to grant the annulment between Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon because at this stage he was held "hostage" by Charles V after the sacking of Rome (1527) by supposedly "mutinous" soldiers of the Holy Roman Empire. At this stage, Pope did not wanted to further anger Charles and so when Henry VIII asked for the annulment he refused not because he didn't want to BUT HAD TO because Charles V saw it to be an "undesirable" act that his aunt (Catherine of Aragon) to be divorced and treated in such contempt by her husband. If it wasn't for this sacking of Rome and the immense pressure that the Papal States (the lands governed by the Pope) was in due to it being surrounded by lands controlled by Charles V and his HRE, in any other normal circumstance, Henry VIII would of been granted his annulment.
