Cool White to Warm White LED headlamp swap

Replacing the freezing cold sleep-destroying cool white LED in my headlamp with a warm white LED. Comparing and testing some power LEDs. Checking AAA rechargeable NiMH batteries using my battery internal resistance tester. Wondering if 1W and 3W LEDs are actually secretly the same thing.

Warm white modding for flashlights and headlamps is good, because warm yellow light can make visuals better in dark and in rain situation

Just actually completed a similar mod to my 2 Lezyne 1100 bike front lights, one with 3000K, and one with 2700K. Colour rendering and distance judgement is much better. I also note that a greater proportion of our local street lighting is now around 3000K.

For outdoors 4000K is actually better, than warm light 2700K-3000K, but anything is better than highly efficient cool white LEDs with horrible color rendering anyway.

Those lidl batteries are very good for the money. I use them with my ESP32-Cam, they send me a photo every 30min and I can get over 1500 photos with each recharge (I dont like to worry about 18650).

I have built 2200k bulbs for flashlights. In the complete dark they look really good

From what I've heard, the cool white LEDs are more efficient due to less light having to be converted by the phosphors

I used to prefer cool white LEDs, but for the past few years ive been favoring warm white or natural white.

I've 3.5W a wall fixture that is overpriced enough (130 to 160 Euros depending of the store) to have warm, neutral and cool white LEDs and a jumper to choose which color temperature you want, but I got a demo unit for only 14€ 🙂 Anyway I would never have paid more than 20€ for such a tiny low power fixture.
