Relieving pain from a smashed nail

It worked! I used a sewing needle though…It took me a couple tries due to the fact that it’s tricky holding the needle if you are doing it by yourself, and then getting the needle heated well enough was the 2nd challenge. The trick is getting the needle super hot though!
I think a lot of people are experiencing pain because they are applying to much pressure! If the needle is red hot when you touch it to your nail, it should melt easily just like plastic, with not much pressure required at all. If you feel pain and got burned, it’s because you went too deep, probably because you were applying too much pressure with a needle that wasn’t hot enough. All you need is a very small whole, not deep at all, right through the nail for the blood to drain. Once it drains all that pressure and swelling will be relieved. I was scared at first, but it didn’t hurt me at all, if you do it correctly! MAKE THE NEEDLE EXTREMELY HOT!

Is 4:17 a.m. right here now and I haven't been able to sleep after I slammed my thumb by 21 p.m. Thank God I found this method; I'm trying it out now and the blood is really really coming out.

I smashed my right thumb with my car door at about 9:30 pm today, ran inside the house submerged my hand in a bunch of ice for a while and it did the trick for a bit however the pain was unberable right about 2:00 am, so bad that it woke me up, I was on my way to the ER but I decided to do a little YT search and lo and behold I came across this incredible advice, it worked!!!! Thank you Dr Silvers, you saved my night. Most likely I would have spent that whole night at Kaiser ER for someone to have done the same procedure. God bless you doctor!!!

I smashed my finger at the car door very hard yesterday around 10am and my finger went purple completely and the pain was unbearable. I put on ice, drank 3 analgetics during the day but nothing helped and my finger was about to burst from the blood that was collected. From the pain I couldnt sleep, so around 2am in the morning I saw this video and tried it with a hot needle and the blood started to get out . I just wanted to write this because I’m very thankful to youu Doctor, you saved my thumb and I’m glad that people like you exists to help all around the world. Got distracted while closing the car door this morning. The day was painful and I was wondering how I would sleep as I avoid pain killers as much as possible. Ice all day, keep the hand elevated but this pain was so intense. Came to YouTube and found this. Thank you, pain is 80% better. I can actually use my hand.

I've done this before and blood shot across the room. (Used a sowing needle.) It hurt but it was sweet sweet relief. Before I drained it it hurt with every heart beat I had.

Oh my thank you for sharing this information, we just had a finger smashed by a hammer and several hours later, the pain was growing deeper. We tried with a small paperclip 2 times but it did not penetrate enough and we were being careful. Then tried an embroidery needle and lo and behold the blood came rushing out. Dr Jack, my gratitude. Smashed my finger three days ago on a car door. Tonight it's been it's biggest. I've kept it iced elevated and clean (I have a small cut) the pressure I was feeling in my thumb was too much, so glad I came across this video. It works! I heated a needle until it was super hot, i didn't apply any pressure because it just went right through my nail. Just a little pain, but it just felt like a little sting and blood came out! I got it on the third try btw, I wasn't heating my needle up enough the first two times.

This actually worked, I had to force myself through the pain getting the hole in but so glad that I did! It eased the pain a lot. I can now go to bed!

I slammed my thumb in the car door yesterday and the pain was excruciating. I followed this with a sewing needle and kitchen gas flame— actually my dad did it, I was trying but didn’t put enough pressure due to fear. It didn’t hurt but I felt it when the needle got through. Praise God, such a relief!

OMG Jack!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I jammed my finger yesterday and put it in ice right away, it was okay but by the time I got home the pain was mind numbing. I found another video and put my finger in hot hot water with 1tbsp epson salt + 1 tbsp regular salt as much as I can then in freezing water as long as I could while going back and forth.

Woke up and my nail was almost full of dry blood. I did your needle experiment and the blood came gushing out. I think its best to wait until the next day so that the blood can settle first, but the relief from the pain is super satisfying. I can breathe again and am very Thank you so much!!!!

Doc, seriously, my thumbs still hurts. But the pain before this paperclip surgery was on a 9 or 10. Pain now, about a 2 or 3. Back to work. Probably keep this in my combat tool kit, along with the superglue for stitches.
