2023 Honda Transalp VS Yamaha Tenere VS Suzuki V-Strom | The Japanese Middle Weight Battle

Two of the most anticipated motorcycles for 2023 are the new Honda Transalp and the Suzuki 800 DE V-strom. We tought these bikes should go one against another therefore we went on to compare them. The fun part started when we realised that the Yamaha Tenere has to be in this review also. Enjoy!

Very good video. I was in the dealer and they sold their Tenere, and they pointed to the Vstrom. I didn't know anything about it and now taking a good look at it. I live in Florida USA so we have to ride the streets to get out of the area to get to the good trails

If I were to make a long trip, several weeks, with both on and offroad, I would definitely take the Suzuki. Comfort of the seat, better suspension, reliable, like the other two! The T7 has a higher center of gravity, and if you are alone, it makes a difference. For just on road touring, definitely the Honda.

The difference in volume between the music sections and your dialogue is immense. I struggle to hear what you are saying and then the music blasts out at double the volume. If it's hard to level everything out maybe leave out the music altogether?

Thanks guys..good stuff as always. I'm slowly looking for an eventual replacement for my KTM 990 and I need something that can go from big single track to long distance highway cruising so the DE is on my short list. Good good to hear more info about it. Thanks.

Your opening got me thinking of something we teach and I thought I'd mention it for the benefit of new ADV riders. When picking up these kinds bikes, especially if they have full fuel and any luggage on them, just a few degrees of slope can make a big difference when lifting them. If it is apparent that the tires are a bit uphill, you will work much, much harder. For context, and this varies based on CG and such, but just a tiny 3 degree incline on a 500lb bike increases the required lifting force by ~26 lbs (and few people even detect slope less than 5 degrees or 43lbs) Depending on the situation, people might benefit from spinning the bike and getting the wheels down hill (or just the rear wheel). As much of a hassle as that sounds, and especially if it is a big slope, it is your only option. I've watched many students struggle and give up, only to then show them how to pull the front wheel around and get the bike up. Thinking through a lift on a big bike is important as is practice. Thanks for all the good content over the years....leaving for Italy tomorrow to spend some time on my GS over there so watching you guys always gets me pumped.

Outstanding review and format. Based on your testing it will be important for potential buyers to be honest with how the bike will be used. Tenere of off-road is your focus, TransAlp for on-road and VStrom for all-round riding.

T7 looks significantly cooler than other two bikes. But it is good to have more choices.

I would love to have a T7, with Honda power and Suzuki suspension. Torn between the Vstrom 800 and the Africa twin 1100.... But i can't justify the price difference....

A difficult choice between excellent bikes, I suspect once the bikes are set up properly for indivivual riders they will be even closer. Personally I would prefer the suzuki as the suspension is far more adjustable.

This is the reason I got a vstrom 800de and if I had more money I'd also buy the other 2 bikes unfortunately I can only buy one for now the de800 keeps amazing me more every time I ride it and once iv set it up for Australian adventures I'm going to be pretty impressed with it

sehr gut gemacht!

We live in great times for motorcyles - If you cant find one that "overall" suit your needs, then you are too hard to please. IMO all 3 of these machines are very good in a different way to one

I've been really enjoying the new KTM 790 Adventure for this class. Alongside the Suzuki I think they fit the "have just one bike for everything" more than the other two.

The three bikes I've been looking at. Thanks for the lift comparison! The only other bike I'm considering and is a bit of an outlier is the KLR650.
