Feral cat got hit by a car on the freeway and was unable to run away! #cat

Luckily for Siri, a Good Samaritan managed to pick her up, take her home, and call #HopeForPaws for help. Katie McKittrick handled the situation beautifully and bravely - handling a feral cat and even worse, an injured one, could be extremely dangerous.

After #Siri had her surgery, she continued to our friends at the #KittyBungalow where she healed nicely, and then they found her a loving forever home through their working cat program. This program enables feral cats to get integrated into a farm where they can live freely, and still get medical care and food.

I am so happy it all worked out :-)

As someone who has done a lot of TNR and feral colony managing, I can’t say thank you enough for caring for this baby. Seeing her ear tip, she was part of a managed colony somewhere. She is what she is and her life is of no less of value than the kitty curled up next to me. Transitioning a feral to a new location takes a lot of dedication and time and even then there are no absolute guarantees that she will stay. You gave her the very best chance she could possibly have. It honestly brought tears to my eyes. Sweet baby, I hope she settled in and stayed at the farm. 💕❤️💕

Because it's so tricky to pick up even an injured feral cat, what the first rescuer did to bring this cat to safety was outstanding. And stopping traffic too!

So adorable someone adopted her as a working cat!! I have TNR'd 30 cats in the past year and feed 12 strays outside my house, as much as I would love for them to have a home, not all of them are as friendly as a normal cat and there aren't just 12 random homes looking for a cat. At my house, they have breakfast and dinner, fresh water, and outdoor cat houses! A couple in my neighborhood also feeds the feral cats and they actually let them into the basement! I helped them TNR them and all the cats here are happy and healthy!

I love seeing ferals being used as working cats! Excellent way to get that option out to the public. And even BETTER that you showed proper technique in acclimating her to her new home. I've seen so many well meaning people in TNR programs just release a cat to a new area thinking they will stay. Fabulous outcome
