Most Expensive Man Made Thing in the World! | RTS Discovery
The most expensive thing made by humans is not actually on Earth, but orbiting in space.
The world's most expensive man-made object is the International Space Station, commonly known as the ISS.
It was launched in 1998, and at that time, its cost exceeded 150 billion dollars.
Building the space station was so expensive that no single country could manage it alone.
The United States, Europe, Canada, Japan, and many other countries collaborated to work on it.
Moreover, maintaining it every year costs an additional 3 to 4 billion dollars.
You might ask why it is so expensive?
The reason is actually quite simple: it functions as a satellite that acts as a living space and laboratory where people can live and work, and it orbits around the Earth.
Unlike a typical satellite, its size is as big as a football field, weighs approximately 925,000 pounds.
To provide power, it has massive solar panels attached to it.
To supply oxygen, time to time Supply shuttles are sent from Earth with fresh oxygen.
Additionally, there is a water recovery system installed inside that converts urine into purified water for use.
The external temperature can range from -120°C to +93°C, which means it requires advanced insulation.
These factors contribute to why it is so expensive.
What do you think about the International Space Station?
