Bro I just bought the apprentice builder

need help. I tried to get help from supercell and never got a response. there is a glitch where I do an upgrade or create an army, then leave the game. when I come back the army is not there or the upgrade was never started. is this me or the game? is there any way to keep this from happening. I tried keeping the game on (wait till the first army creature is generated) I always close the game (confirm exit) this is driving me bonkers! nothing worse than going in to attack and I have no troops!
I would be grateful for help
