Thanks for looking at Mem and sharing your thoughts. I am a Mem user and I am getting readty to move on. I restarted using Heptabase and love it so far. Heptabase like other PKM system and not Mem, has a dark mode. Don't know what Mem is thinking and what they are looking to do in the future. Ready to do a full dump of Mem notes into Haptabase.

Mem was my FAVORITE AI tool to use for the greater half of 2023. i hate how they fell off with product reliability. if they had a support team that was proactive about fixing the issues and bugs, Mem AI would be top tier. i still try to use it considering i have a ton of notes and chat history that is very useful but every time i do, i am let down. =*( for instance, at this very moment, nothing i do can resolve the problem of renewing my subscription. it would be nice to use the chatbot but i cant even pay for it. come on Mem AI, get it together.

It seems not so much has changed in Mem. Many of us have moved on already. I agree: AI is no substitute for organization, in your mind and in your file/notes/info system. For similar $$, Heptabase offers so much more.

Mem is a huge disappointment. I decided to make it my go to notes app at the time (unbeknownst to me) they decided to strip it of so many features, including the templates feature. I got my money back, anyway. I really don't know what they are thinking.

Even after using it as my primary note-taking application for almost 18 months, I share many of your concerns. As someone with a tendency towards disorganization, Mem remains my go-to solution. However, I acknowledge that the development progress seems sluggish, and the app itself loads slowly. Additionally, it still lacks several essential features that one would expect from a robust note-taking application. Consequently, I primarily utilize Mem for its 'second brain' capabilities, which facilitate organizing and interconnecting my thoughts and ideas effectively. Despite its shortcomings, Mem continues to be my preferred choice for the time being.

Mem's AI is an impressive tool that helps me to build on my content. Its inline Smart Write and Chat features are especially useful. I
like how generates outlines, brainstorms ideas, writes summaries, emails, and much more. I appreciate how it suggests follow-up prompts to help me delve deeper into a topic. I know that Mem will continue to improve with time, and I am eager to see what new features it will offer. I know that the more content I feed it, the better it will become.

It's clear why Mem disappoints you. In contrast, it suits me because i do not use it for project management or productivity, or for managing lots of different material (texts, pdfs, images, videos, etc); I use it totally for '"creative" writing, for noting down memories, phrases, ideas, poems, short texts and other texts not written by me that relate to what i write about. So it's all highly textual, and mem is great at bringing up similar mems, at identifying similar motifs etc.
