✨ Why Do I Still Use Micro Four Thirds Camera?

preview_player
Показать описание
Is Micro Four Thirds still relevant in 2025? I have been using Micro Four Thirds since 2014 and it's still my preferred camera system for photography. However, with the fierce competitions from other formats such as APS-C and full frame, is Micro Four Thirds still a good choice? What advantages does it have over the other formats?

Today I'm sharing why I'm still shooting Micro Four Thirds in 2025. I explained some benefits that may not always be present in other camera system. Hopefully this video can give you more insight regarding Micro 4/3 camera system.

I am an advanced enthusiast and have been using MFT (mainly Olympus bodies and lenses plus some 3rd party professional prime lenses) and have been very satisfied with the whole experience. Never looked elsewhere. MFT is MUCH MORE than smaller dimensions and less weight. It is the vast array of lenses, the whole joy of using MFT, the many creative possibilities etc.

I'm getting an E-M1 MkIII to replace my MkII - still cannot see any C, N or S mirrorless bodies or lenses that comes close to Olympus WR sealing on bodies and Pro lenses against rain, sand and saltwater.

Hi Gary, Your comments and points are right on. I feel the same way as you do. I can carry a small Lumix GX-9 anywhere I go. It's light, small and easy to move around with. You are 100% right with respect to the trade off's. I hope Micrco 4/3rds is here to stay. ⭐ That's just the way photography and cameras go. 👍 📷 🤩

I ditched my old Canon EOS for a Panasonic Lumix GX85 (second hand) and never looked back... Size, weight, and quite honestly the superb image quality. With the Canon I always had to think "will I bring my camera and 2 extra lenses, or not...?" simply because of size and weight in my backpack. The Lumix is almost permanently stored in my backpack, with an extra lens: hardly notice it. I shoot 50/50 photos and videos, and both look just stunning. 4K videos come out brilliantly sharp, and if you attach an external audio recorder (like I do), you also have superb audio. And on another note: I think other camera manufacturers can learn a thing or 2 from Panasonic regarding camera operation/menu: the menu is very clear, very intuitive, simple to use.

I absolutely agree... small and light (but capable) is very important for my next camera... I have an older Sony A7r2, which I bought used for a great price and it's still a fantastic camera with plenty of features, but I yearned for a small every-day carry camera. So I added a much less capable Sony A5100 to my kit and it's much more fun most of the time. I'm really thinking about giving Micro Four Thirds a try and narrowed it down to the OM-5... did you ever try one of those (or the very similar older E-M5iii)?

I just got my first m43 today. A Lumix GX80. I'm really excited to try it out. Which lenses should I get for good every day use e.g. in a city and canada landscape pictures so that I don't have to constantly switch out the lenses? 😁

"What is your favourite camera system? It doesn't have to be M43."

But it just so happens that it is. 😄

Wildlife for me. I know the problems M43 has in low light, but it's a personal tradeoff so I don't have to lug enormous lenses into the middle of a forest, or wherever. New AI software can make my images less noisy. It can't make a Canon 800mm any lighter. (Or cheaper)

I'm back and forth on my m43 camera and my xiaomi 14 phone. The camera is +1 thing to carry and the image quality I get for my prints up to A4 is very comparable. The camera is more ergonomic and fun to use though

You know... you could have used the money spent on the ZV-E10 to fund the future OM-3. Just saying. :P

Sorry, but Sony's been producing MFT size and smaller APS-C cameras for 15 years now, with drastically better image quality and autofocus since 2016.

Also, 95% of settings on Sonys are set once and forget it. The rest are the same settings you change on any other camera. Choice is a good thing. Ask many Nikon shooters who STILL can't even customize all of their buttons and dials!
