Shyreece Pompey, a lifelong teacher, was suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She ended up learning the importance of patient self-advocacy: if she didn’t speak up for herself in her cancer treatment decision-making, her life would have gone down a much harder road.
In fact, she says it was her self-advocacy that got her to the right doctor and the right treatment.
