Welcome to Osiris Season 2 - Striking Out, a Minecraft 1.12 Single Player series, currently on snapshot 17w06a! In this episode 4 (E4), we invent a rain detector and a Minecraft observer randomizer, and use it to create some randomized dynamic world elements!

We use an observer and a tilled arid block of dirt to detect rain in Minecraft 1.12, something I've never seen done before. This incidentally also acts as a Minecraft observer randomizer. This rain detector is super simple to build, and has the advantage of working all night long. For us, it's also an advantage that it takes a random time after the rain has started or finished to trigger, as that adds to the Minecraft dynamic world that we are trying to create.

Because this is a single player world in Minecraft 1.12, we use quite a lot of these random elements in the end, since we don't have to care about the water updates causing lag.

Blocks in Minecraft 1.12 single player have 8 block states, and for tilled soil one is wet and the other seven are various stages of dry. Because of this, our Minecraft rain detector randomizer will fire once when it gets wet, and seven times as it slowly dries out. This might be an issue we need to solve in the future...

Season 2 of this Minecraft 1.12 Single Player is very exciting for me! I first decided to strike out around the new year, but was held back by the fact that we would have to haul so much gear. Then the shulker box was added and that proved to be the solution! Minecraft 1.12 Single Player is now changed due to the shulker box, and we can do things that were previously really tedious quite easily.

Minecraft 1.12 is a new update for Minecraft that introduces Terracotta blocks, Concrete blocks and Concrete Powder blocks. It will probably have many more features in the future. Minecraft 1.12 Single Player is a variant of Minecraft 1.12 where I play in Survival and alone. It lends itself to creativity and a slightly harder gameplay as I can't take help of other Minecraft 1.12 players. Minecraft 1.12 Single Player is a fun way to play the game though!

Osiris Season 2 - Striking Out is all about New Bases, Amazing Locations, Harder Challenges, Innovative Builds and Fun! Join us, watch it! There will be a new episode every Friday, from 10th March and onward, and I will make bonus episodes with some infrequency.

This series is a Minecraft 1.12 Single Player series, we play Minecraft 1.12 Single Player starting on the snapshot 17w06a, the first snapshot of Minecraft 1.12 (the colorful update). The news so far in Minecraft 1.12 the colorful update include Minecraft Terracotta blocks, Minecraft Concrete Powder and Minecraft Concrete, all in all 48 new blocks! The Minecraft 1.12 snapshot 17w06a also have revamped the wool, carpet and banner colours, something I find really really good! The new Minecraft 1.12 carpet colour is just so vibrant and really pops! The next snapshot will among other things contain Minecraft Parrots! This is an amazing addon, and I'm very excited about it :)

Looking to the future, we will follow along with the Minecraft 1.12 snapshots and Minecraft 1.12 pre releases, as soon as they seem stable enough. We will of course move on to any future versions as well. Minecraft 1.12 is not the end :)

Leave a comment guys! It’s much appreciated!

As always, Osiris is a Minecraft 1.12 inspiration and a Minecraft 1.12 ideas build series, I aim to give you inspiration and ideas to build awesome stuff in Mminecraft 1.12, I hope you like it! :)

I think the reason the BUD Switch doesn't detect it is because the hydration is a block state change, which observers detect, but BUDs don't I believe.

Really like the video! You earned a subscription from me :)

This could totally make a cool minimal house design- so when it beings raining; you could have a roof to close. In a way, I like the randomization (relatively) when hydrating.. As it's some water 'build-up' effect before coming down as a waterfall. I guess you could say the same for its deactivation too. Great stuff! I really like your base build too.

Great episode! I love the dynamic waterfalls, that's a great idea! For the center one, maybe a jungle-style aqua-duct similar the desert one could carry the rain water to a pool where you get water for your base?

This is SUCH A COOL IDEA. I love it, I never even knew you could do that with the observers. I have 2 suggestions, add a pond or lake at the bottom of the water falls, and make the places where the water comes out from look more eroded. This way it looks like the water is overflowing and adds some realism. Keep up the great work! Cat Name: Inca

I like your style. Your single player LP seems to be in the same spirit as mine. Subscribed

An idea I have, if its even possible, but cauldrons can fill up with rain water, and once its fully filled, you could take a signal from a comparator and have it flood parts of the jungle; The more I think about it the less possible it seems but it seems like a cool idea!
